Heather Kropf is a piano-based singer/songwriter/producer originally from Portland, Oregon. She relocated to Pittsburgh in the mid-90s to intern as Assistant Music Director at WYEP and eventually served as DJ/producer of the Sunday Afternoon Mix. Heather has been an anchor of the songwriting scene for nearly 20 years, independently producing four albums, and earning acclaim for her evocative singing and songwriting. Trained in classical piano but intuitive in her approach to songwriting, she has charmed audiences with her genre-defying blend of Americana and jazz-influenced songs that captures the complexity of modern life and romance. Her honeyed vocals are reminiscent of early influences Suzanne Vega and Joni Mitchell, and her live shows feature some of Pittsburgh's finest players to strike the balance between relaxing and mesmerizing. Her fifth album Lights was recorded in Nashville with producer/multi-instrumentalist Lex Price (k.d. lang, Rodney Crowell, Grant-Lee Phillips, Mindy Smith) and was listed as a best album of 2017 by TribLIVE and an honoree finalist for Top Entertainment & Media Project of the Year (2018) by the Pittsburgh Technology Network. Heather has also been involved in various community efforts over the years, from environmental concerns to working with the early efforts of AcoustiCafe. She was a founding board member for The Union Project in Highland Park, served on the board for The Bridge Music Hall and is a founding organizer of Fair Play Pittsburgh Music. View Profile.
